Dutton Christian School remains incredibly blessed by God’s faithfulness since our beginning in 1955. These blessings include a quality staff, committed volunteers, increasing enrollment, and solid generational financial support. There is much prayer support for our staff, school families, and school events.
Dutton Christian is able to provide so many opportunities to our students because of our active and faithful volunteers. If you would like to volunteer, please check out our opportunities to serve on our volunteer page.
Dutton Christian depends on financial gifts over and above tuition to enhance our mission. Financial support of the Dutton Christian School Foundation keeps on giving since the principal is invested and your gift will always be there to generate dividends. The Dutton Christian School Foundation specifically keeps the cost of tuition down with annual contributions to the general fund. The foundation had its beginning in 1993 with the passing of Mrs. Jean VanderVeen. All gifts given in memory of a loved one, unless otherwise designated, are invested into the Foundation. The return of investments given to the general fund in 2014-15 was $70,000. The Foundation encourages the Biblical principles of stewardship by providing a giving opportunity that provides the greatest possible tax advantage for individuals, families, and businesses. Gifts to the Foundation include cash, property, and stocks. All gifts are tax deductible and provide long-term financial security for Dutton Christian School. If you would like free, professional, and confidential tax advice on quality planned giving and estate planning, contact the school or the Barnabas Foundation toll free at 888-448-3040.
The Tuition Assistance Fund relies on the donations of parents, grandparents and the community of Dutton Christian School to assist those qualifying families to obtain a Christian education. In the current year 2015/16, $68,000 needs to be raised to offer this assistance.
Another opportunity is the DCS Scholarship Program. The first named scholarship -the Kevin Lucas Scholarship – was begun with the passing of Kevin Lucas in 1999. It was begun to provide tuition support for students with special needs. In 2012 the Jack Boerema Scholarship was started in memory the memory of Jack – a preschooler, who was taken home to be with our Lord. You may consider giving to one of these endowed scholarships, starting an additional one in memory or in honor of a loved one, or donating to the DCS general scholarship program. Please contact Steve Huisjen at 616-916-1682 or [email protected] or use the Scholarship Donor Form. The demand for supporting students with special needs, and families with financial needs continues to grow. A donation to any of the scholarship funds is completely tax deductible.
If you are interested in donating to any of these areas or want to make a donation of another kind, please contact our treasurer, Jeff Haverdink, call Dan Netz at 616-698-8660 ext 3, or donate online using the Give to DCS form in the left side bar. It is through gifts like these that will help ensure a heritage of high-quality Christ-centered education. Thank you.
