Update Jan. 6, 2011:
YOU DID IT! We reached our goal!
WE DID IT TOGETHER!! Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain... WE give God the praise for so richly blessing our efforts to build additions to our school. God first prepared the hearts of donors. The campaign was in need of approximately $200,000 in order to begin Phase II construction at the elementary school. In December, our Association was challenged to match a $100,000 gift, and that match was met on January 3, 2011! WOW! We can celebrate God's goodness to us!
The anticipated cost of Phase II construction is $492,000. The construction committee is scheduled to meet on January 14. After a design review, we will begin to apply for building permits and seek bids. We will then confirm the anticipated building costs.
Original goals of the campaign were to build both phases without debt and then to rebuild the capital campaign fund to $100,000, create a $25,000 playground fund, and strengthen the financial basis of the Foundation. We currently have about $15,000 over the anticipated building expenses to put towards the post-construction goals. We pray that over the final eight months of the campaign, we can achieve these funding goals.
The Capital Campaign Committee thanks each of you for the role you have played in the continued success of the campaign and asks for your continued prayer and support as we make the final push toward the finish line - Deb Smies, Brian VanderHorst, Beth VanHouten, Jim VanZee, Dan Netz, and Joel DeBruin.
Beyond These Walls is our $1.2 million campaign to build two additions at the elementary.
A fundraising banquet was held on Friday, April 30, 2010. We give thanks to God that $147,000 was collected in cash and new money, which exceeded the $125,000 match! We now are positioned with $177,000 towards Phase 2, which will include four classrooms on the east side.
We plan to break ground for the two north classrooms as soon as we have all of the required permits. These two new classrooms will be home to our three year old and four year old pre-kindergarten students and for our young five program.
Thank you for supporting DCS!
