The Care Parent program is designed to build a sense of community for existing families and to ease the transition for and welcome new families into our school. One family per class will act as the Care Parent for that class. Why contact existing and new families?
-
to keep a communication link open while building relationships
-
to answer any questions families might have about school
-
to share any prayer requests or urgent situations within the class
-
encourage each family to pray for the students, families, and teacher of the class
-
have your name available if a prospective family desires to speek with a current family
This program is not an invitation to express concerns that should be directed to the teacher or the administration.
If you are a Care Parent to existing families, please contact them in September to introduce yourself as the Care Parent of your class for the year. Know your family list and seek them out when possible. There are existing families who will appreciate a personal invite to attend a school event. You may connect with the room mom to combine any social activities. Communication should be supportive and encouraging.
If you are a Care Parent to a new family, you are a very important resource for them. We strongly suggest you contact new families as soon as possible (especially before school begins) to introduce yourself and your role as Care Parent and what that means. Be sure to make them aware of the following ‘Ongoing’ and ‘Fall’ items. To help make a new family feel enfolded, plan a mom coffee, play date, or volunteer together (you may want to connect with the room mom to combine any social activities). Contact new families again in November to familiarize them with winter activities and end of February for the spring events.
